What is a Full Body Skin Cancer Exam?

During a Full Body Skin Exam, our board-certified dermatologists, physician assistants, or nurse practitioners will thoroughly examine your skin from head to toe, checking for any abnormal moles, spots, or growths that may need further attention. We utilize state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and expert techniques to ensure accuracy and thoroughness throughout the exam. Some patients prefer a more targeted exam such as an examination of the head and neck or some prefer to just have an upper body skin examination; this can be decided at the time of your appointment.

During the examination, we make sure to carefully address any skin lesions of concern that you have noticed, such as new spots or changing moles. If a patient has ever had a skin cancer before, we make sure to carefully examine that specific area, too.

If a spot looks suspicious or potentially cancerous during your exam, we may perform a small procedure, such as taking a biopsy or scheduling a removal procedure. Early detection and treatment are critical to effectively managing skin cancer, which is why regular skin exams are so important.
