Mohs micrographic surgery is the gold-standard surgical technique for removing most skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). During Mohs surgery, our surgeons carefully remove cancerous lesions in stages, preserving as much healthy tissue as possible.
Mohs micrographic surgery requires meticulous precision. Our surgeons examine skin cancer tumor margins under the microscope at each step, ensuring no cancerous cells are left behind. We repeat these steps as necessary until every trace of cancer is completely removed, offering you the utmost confidence in your skin cancer treatment journey. Lastly, we close the wounds using advanced techniques (linear closures, flaps, and grafts) to minimize scarring. Most often this is all completed in one day.

We offer the expertise of two fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgery experts, Dr. Leigh Sutton and Dr. Elizabeth Sutton. They lead a phenomenal surgical team with years of experience. The Sutton Skin Cancer Center has completed thousands of Mohs surgery cases and cured thousands of skin cancers.
We offer three welcoming clinics with 11 surgical suites, on-site histology labs, and the most advanced surgical treatments. We provide compassionate, comprehensive care and ensure that all your treatment needs are delivered under one roof. Our convenient locations (south Lincoln and north Lincoln) allow easy access for patients in Lincoln and surrounding areas. Your comfort is paramount, and we offer extra amenities such as our separate Mohs surgery lounge with refreshments on hand. Patients and family members are encouraged to use this tranquil area during the surgical day. We also offer the convenience of having your surgical excision, tissue evaluation, and wound closure on the same day without multiple visits (unless specified before your procedure). Our Mohs surgeries are performed in the clinic, with convenient and free parking and short walks to and around the facility. This avoids hospital and surgery center fees, which saves you money.
