What Happens During Fraxel Laser Treatment?
Here’s what you can expect when you visit Sutton Aesthetics for your Fraxel laser treatment in Lincoln:
- We numb and cleanse the treatment area
- We guide the Fraxel handpiece gently across the treatment area.

Fraxel Laser FAQ
How should I prepare for Fraxel treatment?
During your initial consultation, we will discuss certain medications to prepare you for your treatment. We suggest you refrain from using skin care products containing retinol or glycolic acid. We recommend discontinuing any Retin A-like products at least 2 weeks prior to your treatment. Strict sun precautions are important before and after your Fraxel laser session.
What happens after Fraxel laser treatment?
Although Fraxel laser is usually very well tolerated, recovery can vary based on the intensity of your treatment. Most patients experience a mild sunburn-like sensation for about an hour post-treatment, and it is common for skin to appear reddish for 2 to 3 weeks as it regenerates and heals. During this time, flaking and acne flare-ups may occur.
Medical-grade moisturizers can minimize the appearance of flaking, and you can apply makeup a few days after treatment. Most patients can return to work and their usual activities 24 hours after Fraxel treatment. However, we recommend that you avoid exercising for 1 week. We’ll also suggest a skin care regimen to enhance your Fraxel laser treatment results.
How many Fraxel laser sessions will I need?
Some patients desire 2 or 3 sessions depending upon how aggressive the treatment plan was. More than one session may be necessary to address severe brown spots or acne scars.
