What Is CO2 Laser Recovery Like?

The CO2RE laser treatment is intense and requires more downtime than gentler treatments. You should plan to set aside 10 to 14 days of downtime, during which your skin will go through a few phases of healing, including:

Sunburn-like redness for several days
Initial swelling, scabs, or crusting
Pinkness for a few weeks

It takes about a month for more youthful-looking skin to emerge, with continued gradual improvement as collagen builds. Applying ice packs and keeping your head elevated during the initial healing process is helpful. We also suggest keeping your skin moist with ointments to foster healthy cell turnover. It’s essential to avoid sun exposure to protect vulnerable, healing skin for the first few months after treatment.
