Leigh Sutton, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist and board-certified Mohs micrographic surgeon, specializing in medical and surgical dermatology with an additional interest in aesthetic devices. She enjoys evaluating and treating dermatologic conditions including eczema, psoriasis, and performing comprehensive skin checks. Dr. Sutton is skilled in surgical excisions, Mohs micrographic surgery, and a variety of laser treatments.
A proud Linconite Dr. Sutton attended Pius X high school where she competed in golf and tennis her sister, Steph. She went on to play golf at Creighton University, graduating with a 3.99 GPA before attending the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) for medical school earning a Regent’s scholarship after her first year. At UNMC, Dr. Sutton was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and served as the student president of the society.
Dr. Sutton completed her dermatology residency at Scott & White in Temple, Texas, where she served as chief resident. During her residency, she scored in the top 1% on the national dermatology in-service exam in two of the three years. She then pursued further training in Mohs micrographic surgery and surgical oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas with a fellowship, under the mentorship of Dr. Ida Orengo.
Dr. Sutton’s overarching goal throughout this educational journey was to return to Lincoln and provide excellent dermatologic care to Lincoln and surrounding communities, working alongside her mother & now sister, Dr. Liz Sutton. During this journey, she met her husband, Creighton, a Nebraska native who shares her love for the state.
Outside of work, Dr. Sutton enjoys walking for exercise, tending to her small summer garden, organizing her children’s activities, and, on occasion, beating her husband in golf.
